Leather Furniture Care Tips and Tricks

Leather Furniture

Leather Chair Care TipsLeather furniture is one of the most sought after types of furniture today. Leather is very attractive and extremely durable.

Leather is also extremely easy to maintain. Caring for your new leather furniture is sometimes overlooked, but to hold the value of your furniture, you should follow a few simple tips so that you can keep your leather looking, feeling, and even smelling new.

Aniline Leather

Aniline leather is natural looking and will present more noticeable marks, scars, scratches, brands and wrinkles. Aniline leather should be cleaned with a non abrasive cloth and swept with a non abrasive extension. You can also rub the leather down with a cleaning solution to preserve the quality and integrity of the leather.

Aniline Plus Leather

Aniline-Plus leather is another type of leather which is treated to ensure that there will be a smooth color and not as many scratches or marks. This leather has been treated to help fight against stains. Unlike Aniline leather, this is the most common form of leather you will find in store like ours and department stores. You can also clean this type of leather in the same manner you would the Aniline leather; simply wipe off with a non abrasive cloth and vacuum with a non abrasive extension. It does not hurt to wipe down with a treating solution on this form of leather.

Nubuck Leather

Nubuck leather has been finished to feel like velvet or suede. This is a form of leather that will have more noticeable marks, and it is more likely to stain and fade quicker than the other two types of leather mentioned. Using a product such as Leather Master Nubuck cleaner and protection will help the leather fight against natural body oils, liquids, sweat and maintain the velvet/suede texture. This type of leather is harder to keep clean than the other two kinds of leather due to the texture not being smooth like Aniline-Plus and Aniline leather.

No cleaning will get rid of every stain, prevent fading or wear. However, you will be able to maintain your leather furniture longer by removing spills immediately, dusting often and using care and cleaning products designed for leather furniture.
